Description

PLEASE READ ALL OF THE FOLLOWING PRIOR TO BIDDING:

This auction is open to bidders worldwide.  International winners must send payment in US Dollars via International Money Order or Bank/Cashier's Cheque.  All shipping will go through the various services/rates offered by the US Postal Service.

This 78rpm auction item is just one of approximately 160 such items that will constitute my complete "auction" which will come on line, one item every 15 minutes, over about a one week period.  Please click on the "View Seller's Other Items" to see all items presently listed.  It is important that bidders understand that I will be doing ALL of the invoicing AFTER the COMPLETE "auction" of approximately 160  78rpm items has ended.  Every successful bidder will have their invoice emailed to them within about two (2) days of the end of the COMPLETE "auction".  Payment will be expected within ten (10) business days of the date you receive your invoice.  Given that there are many problems with email and it is far from perfect it does occasionally happen that my emailed invoice may not get through to you.  Winners with AOL seem to have more perfectly legitimate emails blocked than those with other internet providers.  So, if you do not receive your invoice within two days of the end of the complete "auction" please do not just sit and wait but send me a message, or make an attempt to get hold of me.  For my part, if I do not have a response to an emailed invoice within a couple of days I will certainly send it again and make sure you acknowledge it.

Please rest assured that with nearly 40 years experience buying, playing, selling and shipping 78s that all discs will be accurately graded - both visually AND aurally - and carefully and properly packed for safe shipping via USPS Media Mail (domestic shipping) and USPS international shipping services.  There will be a $3.00 charge for each box of discs which will cover the cost of a new box and all packing materials.  Thank you.

ITEM DESCRIPTION:

Albert Coates conducts the "Symphony Orchestra" with Chorus and Soloists (Salteni-Mochi, Soprano; Edna Thornton, Contralto; F. Webster, tenor; G. Baker, Bass) in the Beethoven Symphony #9, on eight 12-Inch 78rpm Acoustic HMV discs numbered D-842/9, recorded about 1923.

Visually and aurally this set grades an average of Excellent minus to Excellent, with a varying amount of surface noise ranging from relatively quiet on a few sides to average on most others to a little more than average on a couple of sides.  However, there is absolutely no audible groove wear what so ever through out the entire set.  Not too many copies of this recording come around these days.
