Record Grading

I have spent nearly forty years involved in the collecting of rare records, my determination, and obsession to find the rarest records ever made, began in the late sixties when a friend showed me a copy of the worlds first collectors magazine ‘Record Mart.'

Since that time i have travelled to thirty five countries worldwide searching for illusive vinyl rarities. I have literally seen millions of rare records!

Apart from unreleased demos and withdrawn items the rarest records ever made are Transcription Discs. Made for Commonwealth countries connected to the BBC they were pressed in very small quantities with an expiry date printed on the label. Unfortunately in most cases these instructions were carried out to the letter.

The first three hundred or so “Top of the Pops” series are virtually extinct as are the early “Pick of the Pops” which morphed into the “In concert” series. There was a Jazz output, and a series of comedy live shows such as the Goons and Tony Hancock. All are gold dust

The packaging was very basic to say the least! It usually came as a brown plastic lined sleeve complete with cue sheets and the cover had a BBC logo on the front.

Down the line there would be variations on the sleeves such as the gatefold style.
The format of the Top Of The Pops series had an announcer who would introduce the acts and conduct interviews between tracks. The interviews alone are priceless statements of historical narrative lost in the mists of time.
The groups and artists all sang live and many of the songs are only to be found on Transcription discs. The line ups of the artists are simply amazing in the modern world the finances involved in putting shows of this ilk together now would be simply astronomical!!!!

I have now decided to auction off some spares from my vast collection so others can experience the pleasure of live performances.

My photos and descriptions will be accurate and fair, so you can bid with confidence!

All records have been visual and play graded and if you have any problems with the record, I offer a full money back guarantee in line with my returns policy outlined below

Packaging

After thirty-seven years, I think I know enough about packing records, so you can be assured that your item’s will arrive safely. I will not be responsible for lost or damaged goods if the buyer hasn't paid for cover of their item, it is NOT sensible to pay good money and then skimp on the postage and insurance. However I will keep proof of postage just in case in the unlikelihood of something going astray.
