Description

Up for auction is a super clean copy of the Sam Rivers album "A New Conception" released on Blue Note Records (BLP 4249) in 1967.  This is an original, mono first pressing.  Labels state "Blue Note: A Division of Liberty Records".  All Blue Note releases after 4227 were original Liberty releases, as is this one.  Van Gelder stamped in the run-out.  No "ears", but then again, no original Blue Notes after 4227 had them.  Comes with original factory inner sleeve.  Cover is in great shape, with very few signs of previous wear and handling.  No ring wear, no seam splits, no tears.  Corners look sharp except for the lower right which is bumped.  Upper right seam has a tiny spot of rubbing loss near the corner.  Back cover is clean, bone white, no writing.  Very attractive overall.  I'd grade the cover Near Mint Minus (NM-).  The vinyl is in beautiful shape, with no obvious scratches or scuffs.  Nice original high gloss shine.  Perhaps some very superficial signs of having been taken out of the paper inner sleeve, but nothing significant or distracting in any way.  Labels are bright and clean.  I've play tested this record, and overall it plays clean and bright, full-bodied mono fidelity.  Side One opens with a small amount of surface noise in the run-in groove, but it clears up very quickly, and plays clean and quiet for most of the rest of the album.  Really sharp record.  I'd grade the record Near Mint (NM) visually, and Near Mint Minus (NM-) audibly.  Overall, one of the nicer copies of this record of ever come across.  100% guaranteed.
