(A-CADS) HANK SQUIRES - Strange Effect (Columbia 33-JSX 11074, S. Africa 1966) Released in same year as A-Cads LP, he was singer and rhythm guitarist with JOHNNY KONGOS & G-MEN, The Silhouttes, The GIANTS, THE PLAYBOYS and THE FALLING LEAVES. Great album with mixture of Beat, pop, Mod, even some Freakbeat (Thumping "Sick and Tired" with great acid fuzz guitar solo) also thumping version of Dylan's "Maggies Farm", his distinctive throaty voice easily handles all this as it did on the excellent A-CADS album. Thank goodness for that amazingly durable tuff, thick ol' vinyl, wins the day again!! Looks scuffed and worn but plays as vg++. (Vg+/Vg++)
