If I have to go to a deserted island, this is definately a record I'd take with me! Essential stuff for acid buffs. Imagine flutes, tablas, sitars and sitars and you have the ultimate magical hippie vibes. For me this is their best album. Unfortunately there is no cover, but I can make xerox copies of the cover of my personal copy (it's black and white anyway). This is an ultrarare private pressing from South Africa (a R5 rarity). Original pressing on the Uptight label from 1971 (STIC 101).The record is in very good condition.

Setting the Record Straight...
The original group, in fact, was just the three of us [Pete, Ken & Mike] playing nights at the Totem. We folded Flood and went down to join Ken on an off-chance. It was marvellous... even if a trifle restricted. In fact, the name comes from an interview we did with some pretty young lass with the newpapers who found our avowed approach a spot heady. As I recall, the words 'abstract truth' actually stemmed from her and we simply thought it sounded like a good name.

I'd heard George playing with a 3-piece Jimi Hendrix look-alike outfit in Cape Town, and so, when Dave Marks happened to be going down there for some reason or another, I said to him: "Look - there's this guy called George who plays the bass there. If you come across him, tell him we need him here..." Oddly enough he did, and in the meanwhile we'd contacted Sean, so - in a single weekend - the band expanded outward from two guitars, three vocalists and a Farfisa organ, to almost its first lineup, but we're already talking three or four months later. The band shifted quite rapidly into a fairly Zappaesque mode, which wasn't where I was headed, so I left, probably stupidly...
