Musicians: Walter Carlos performs electronic synthesiser along with some classical music. There are two songs by the wonderful Sunforest and Gene Kelly sings his famous standard, ‘Singin’ in the Rain’.

Brief Info: An absolutely essential and brilliant soundtrack to one of the most controversial films of it’s era. Alex, a young thug, fuelled on the music of Beethoven and his droogs cause mayhem, violence and then death, he is caught and reconditioned until he is cured – or is he? Sountracks rarely get better than this, stirring classics are blended with quirky Carlos synths and cameo performances by Sunforest. As memorable as the movie, this for me is one of the greatest ever soundtracks. This was popular and so many copies are scratched or played to destruction with shabby, tired looking covers. This copy is neither and looks fantastic and plays well with any surface sounds modestly light on what is a difficult album with quiet passages. What a joy to hear this again so fine - Alex himself would approve.

This Cover’s Potential for Wear: High: rarely seen anything like as nice as this.

Cover Grade and Format: Practically Mint(-) and my best ever: a single unlaminated format, printed and made in England by Shorewood.

Cover Front: This is as clean as new and barely worn at all, a tiny few light edge hairline creases only. Any ultra faint surface blemishes only show under light. The freshness of the white areas and the classic artwork will rarely, if ever be found better.

Cover Back: The back is practically as made and devoid of wear, creasing or grubbiness. How often will one this fine ever show up?

Top & Bottom Edges: Both unworn, any grubbiness to the white is minuscule.

Right Edge(s), and Type: Clean, sharp with no wear or feathering, guaranteed untrimmed. Record enters on this edge.

Spine and Text: Stunning: Mint as made. Solid, straight, uncompressed and square,. All text is perfect and unworn and retains that just made crispness.

Corners: All four as sharp and pristine as when first manufactured.

Cover Summary: A beautiful all round example of this highly wear-prone 70’s cover, one that will prove near impossible to find better. This connoisseur standard item should please practically all collectors.

The Inner Sleeve: The plain white unlined inner is also in super shape with all edges secure and few creases, this has barely aged with no discolouration.

Vinyl Condition/Visual Grading: EX++: A super visual copy that is very clean, shiny, intense black and solidly pressed. A copy very lightly played on all the evidence with any surface blemishes few, fine and faint. Visually a super record that should please most collectors.

I do NOT play snippets or joining grooves to check for sound quality and quietness – I play from the beginning to end via clinically revealing B&W speakers that include the legendary tweeter from their awesome Nautilus range that reveals every blemish or miniscule sound present on any record.]

Sound Quality and Audio Grading: Well my droogies, this well preserved record plays mostly up to its high visual grading with little to fault. Strong, distortion-free sound, all frequencies are sharp and clear - sound quality is very high with a wide dynamic range and very detailed sound. No significant pops or clicks were noted but a little minor surface sound in places that few will ever avoid as this has moments of real gentleness. Silence is a near impossible ask on this one and few will ever seriously offer it and it will take a very special copy to better this significantly. Practically nothing spoilt my pleasure when play-grading this wonderful record, this soundtrack as been a long standing favourite of mine for years and years. This copy will prove difficult to find significantly better, and the actual cover is outstanding, this can be highly recommended.

The record’s cover will be placed within a BRAND NEW soft protective sleeve and the actual record will be professionally cleaned on my Moth Pro vacuum system to give ultimate clean grooves and playing surfaces and the best possible looks and ultimate sound quality. You will NOT get tired, dull looking, dust infested records inside worn and foggy covers with tatty inners from this seller and that’s a promise and guarantee. All records are posted in professional thick boxes (NOT Mailers or Cruciforms, these do not offer maximum protection). The record(s) REMOVED from their main cover to avoid edge splits and placed within a brand new polylined inner. The record’s original inner will be included if available. SOME GENERAL GUIDES TO WEAR AND CONDITIONS TO HELP YOU DECIDE

My Use of Description Terminology: Surface Marks = Superficial, usually light marks, hairlines or light scuffs that rarely sound. Scratch = a needle mark that goes below the record’s surface, some will sound, some will not, my play-grade will inform. Original = a record that has been pressed with the first label design which does NOT neccessarily mean a very first pressed record. First Pressing = A record that I believe or know to be a genuine very first pressed record. I do not claim to always know for sure, and that’s why I state the stamper and matrix numbers if at all possible, for those who claim to know what they all mean, the information is there for the collector to decide. I prefer to use terms like ‘Early Copy’ rather than ‘First Pressing’ if I am not totally sure. Surface Sound = Mild, light sound, usually light crackle or similar. Distortion = Break up of the actual sound caused by groove wear or damage from a chipped stylus – the most undesirable form of unwanted sound, vintage mono records were the most prone to this happening but not exclusively so. The symptoms of distortion are high frequency clipping, moderate constant crackle or an echo type sound quality. Violin, piano and vocals are most prone to groove-wear distortion. Feathering = Fraying or softening of the entry edge of a cover. Covers with feathered entrance edges are more likely to have had the actual record inserted and removed more than a non-feathered, sharp-edged cover which are always far more attractive. Set Off, actually a printer’s term for dark ink leaving mild residue on pale or white ink when rested upon. e.g. when a gatefold cover has black ink closed against white, this can leave some black residue on the pale area – this is mostly unavoidable or course.

The Argument for Vinyl Original sound and mix (mono mixes are rarely available on CD), high quality sound on clean copies (played on a hi-end dedicated analogue system – breathtaking sound!), beautiful, large format covers, artwork, inserts and even full size posters etc; huge investment potential, and the pleasure of owning ‘the real thing’.
