78 RPM Record Josie Miles Mad Mama's Blues Edison Very Rare Kansas City Five 78 RPM Record Josie Miles Mad Mama's Blues Edison Very Rare Kansas City Five

For your consideration is a rare vintage 10 inch 78 rpm record by Josie Miles and the Kansas City Five entitled Mad Mama's Blues b/w Temper'mental Papa. Great early female blues sides with black jazz band accompaniment. Since this is Edison each side clocks in around 4 minutes and includes solos by the band. Edison was well known for disliking jazz and not recording much of it for Edison until well after many other companies. He also disliked recording black musicians and recorded very very few. Edison would even order certain releases marked with a star to notify distributors that he believed it would be a poor seller. This release also bears that star and no likely contributed to low sales on top of likely a very small pressing run. Record has seen some better days but plays through fine. This is the rarer of the two Josie Miles discs made for Edison around 1924/25. Very nice!

All of our old shellac and vinyl 78 records are packed with utmost care and precaution so as to ensure they arrive to you in the same condition in which they were shipped out. I have extensive experience shipping 78s. For an in depth explanation of my shipping methods, see the bottom of this page. All items will be shipped within 3 days of purchase. All good faith offers thoroughly considered.

Keep in mind that for the highest fidelity reproduction results, a correct sized, well maintained stylus should always be used and antique records should also always receive a deep cleaning with a stiff bristled brush and a non-alcohol based soap. I do not provide grading beyond what is required by eBay. If the photographs prove insufficient, do not hesitate to reach out with a question, as well as any other type of inquiry related to an item.

All 78 rpm records, vinyl or shellac, will be shipped sandwiched between either thick cardboard or some spare 78 rpm discs to provide substantial reinforcement for uneven pressure placed on a package during shipment. The record sandwich is then suspended in packing peanuts on all sides. Packing peanuts are the optimal durable memory material as they will insulate your item against any acute forces such as a fall or any type of blow and unlike bubble wrap will not pop and lose their shape if subjected to a strong force.
