I am delighted to offer yet another beautiful 7" U.S. Berliner, this recorded on June 12, 1896. It is Berliner 858, sung by the Brilliant Quartet who do a great rendition of "Hear Dem Bells."
In researching, I have been unable to identify who sang in the Brilliant Quartet, but I'm quite sure that I hear Bill Hooley singing bass. Singing the lead, sounds a great deal like Billy Golden, but I'm a lot less sure of this.
The record is in excellent (E) condition, with a real shiny surface, that is just astonishing for a disc nearly 113 years old! There are numerous pressing dimples, which are so common with Berliners.
The run-on is extremely narrow (less than a sixteenth of an inch), making it very difficult to put the stylus into the first groove, but not impossible.
