Those of uswho collect Folk music marvel at the dedication and ability of Alan Lomax to uncover and record the rich and varied previously unseen presence of American Folk music. In terms of enduring impact, it is difficult to contemplate recordings more significant than these Library of Congress recordings by Woody Guthrie and the great Leadbelly! Many of the songs on these two sets are now classics and many of the classics on both sets fall within the Blues tradition. Anyone seriously interested in authentic music is well aware of the importance of these icons. Listen to Dylan and you hear a modern version of Guthrie. Listen to "Good Night Irene" or the "Midnight Special" and remember Leadbelly.
** if you are aBlues collector, you will findwe are puttinghundreds ofvintage blues LPs up for auction over the coming year. My husband is grudgingly downsizing hismassive collection which he has acquired over the past40 years and you should find these listings worth considering. Because he was the only owner of these LPs and he had too many to listen to, they were played very, very little and are all in excellent condition.
