Description

Up for auction is a copy of the soundtrack lp to the classic 70’s surf film Five Summer Stories. This is a hard to find Australian pressing in the Image label (ILP-721); the US version is much easier to find. The music on the lp is performed by the Californian band Honk, and can be best described as soft rock/country. Unlike a lot of surf soundtracks from that era, it’s quite easy to listen to! The cover features the the artwork of the the legendary Rick Griffin, renowned for his 60’s and 70’s surf and album cover art.

I would rate the cover as (VG). The laminated cover is glossy and clean on both sides, although there is noticeable ringwear and small creases. There is a few small areas of bubbling in the lamination on both sides near the spine. No writing, stickers, sticker reside, water damage or discolouration.

Visually, the vinyl is (VG+). Its clean and glossy with a only a few light marks and scuffs. Soundwise, I would rate it as (VG-) as there is some light background noise on both sides. No loud pops or crackles.

All in all, a great playing or display copy of this rare lp. Can pick up from Sorrento, Vic, or I will post in a cardboard record box and padded bag anywhere in Australia for $9.00.
