Description
"Howdy, folks. This is your old friend, Singin Sam..."
Here's a group of FIVE (5) 1940s "REMINISCIN WITH SINGIN SAM" 33 RPM RED VINYL TRANSCRIPTION DISCS IN ORIGINAL PAPER SLEEVES. Each record holds two different syndicated complete programs for 15-minute timeslots.
These discs were sold by TRANSCRIPTION SALES, INC. to radio stations for airing at times convenient to the stations. The star of the programs was a gentleman named HARRY FRANKEL who had performed in the earliest days of network radio as "Singin' Sam, the Barbasol Man". In 1945, he formed TRANSCRIPTION SALES, INC. to market 260 programs directly to stations; each program contains about four songs of a nostalgic nature.
Included in this lot are the following 16-inch discs:
- Programs 1 & 2
- Programs 33 & 34
- Programs 147 & 148
- Programs 215 & 216
- Programs 231 & 232 (handwritten air dates of January 1947)
See photos for a closer look at the labels for these specific programs. Each disc has been kept in a paper sleeve for decades. Some labels have some damage, but all of the discs appear to be in very nice condition (I have not played them).
Will ship in a sturdy box for safe transit.
