    THE STARFIRES

    "I Never Loved Her"

    "Linda"

    G. I. RECORDS 4001

    Original Gold / Red Label

    1965

    The Starfires is a garage rock band from Los Angeles that is best known for one of the most sought-after 45s of the mid-1960s, "I Never Loved Her", which can command prices of $1000 or more.

    "I Never Loved Her" = 2:43 minutes

    "Linda" = 1:55 minutes

    Revered among collectors for, I Never Loved Her, of which Linda was the flip, the Starfires also made 4 other singles in 1965-66, including..... No More (G.I. 4002) which is one of the hardest L.A. records to find.

    What is not often realized is that they also made an album, Teenbeat A Go Go (La Brea 8018) a year or so before this, consisting of typical club versions of Farmer John and Justine and the like.

    Freddy Fields, bass player and author of most of their best songs, evidently went through a tremendous period of creative growth in 1965, culminating in I Never Loved Her, before disappearing from the Earth.

    This 45 has been re-issued. The original has a gold label with red writing.

    The re-issue is plain white with red writing.

    As for the originals, up to 25 may exist.

    You are bidding on one of these 25 originals
