This has become necessary since eBay forced the new search system on us in spite of months of negative feedback. The new system makes it so difficult to find items that it sometimes takes 5-6 weeks before enough people find the sale and someone actually makes a bid. (If there are bids it will sell on eBay. Something to consider if you are truly interested.)

DESCRIPTION FOR THIS AUCTION

This auction features 327 45 RPM records from the late 1950s to the mid to late 1960s (plus one later platter that must have belonged to one of my kids). That's right - I did not stutter - there are 327 records from one of the most creative and critical time periods in western musical history. That said, let's get all of the bad news out of the way first so all of you resellers looking to make a killing and high level collectors looking for that perfect record can move on. These are used records and none of them - as in none of them - are in their original sleeves (or any sleeves for that matter). All of them - as in all of them - show wear. These are not my personal records. I picked them up as a gift during an early marriage ('nuff said about that) and they have just been hanging around in my various closets for 40 years or so ever since. The original owner bought them to play - and play them she did. She also wrote notes on some of them, stuck labels on many of them and generally treated them like something she would own forever. This is just your basic big ol' box of old used 45's.

Now for the good news. This is a really cool bunch of music. (Every single one of them is listed below so you can check 'em out yourself.) Virtually every artist who was anyone is represented. The British Invasion is really well covered (Beatles, Stones, Dave Clark Five, Petula Clark, Herman's Hermits, etc.) as are the major American stars of that era (Elvis, Monkeys, Beach Boys, Lovin' Spoonful, Mamas and Papas, Tommy James, Wilson Pickett, Smokey Robinson and so on). Most of the big hits are on the list, including some of the more non-mainstream pop titles like "Ballad of the Green Beret", "Skip a Rope", "Snoopy vs the Red Baron", "The Battle of New Orleans" (1st record I ever heard played back when my neighbor got the 1st portable record player in our neighborhood), and many others. There is also plenty of fun and funky stuff like "The Children's Marching Song (Nick, Nack, Paddy Wack)", "Cut Across Shorty", "Mule Skinner Blues", "These Boots Were Made for Walkin'", "Lady Godiva", "Love Potion Number Nine", and others. You might even be able to figure out what that Kay Lande Golden Record is. She recorded children's songs and I can't read the title. Could not find a reference to that record on the Internet either.

I do not have a way to play these records so I certainly cannot guarantee them. However, back in the day when I did still have a player (15-20 years ago I suppose) I did occasionally pop some of them on it and give them a spin. They played okay at that time. Of course they had the normal little scratches and hisses that most old used record will have. Even the ones that I noted as having edge chips or cracks will likely still play. Plus, there are several products on the market that can go a long way towards restoring these 45s if someone wanted to spruce them up. I did look through them and try to note any obvious defects but do not guarantee I caught everything. These are basically sold as is.

OTHER SALES

I am a long-time eBay comic book guy who has been away for a few years doin' other stuff. I am a collector who buys collections that have books I want and then eventually sells the extras to recoup some of my cost so I can do it all over again. (Only way I can afford to play.) I have allowed my extras to get completely out of control so I intend to seriously pare down my comics. I will be selling thousands of comics in the relatively near future (more if I decide to part with some of my core collection). You will not see much junk. I drop that off at a local auction house. I will be listing Golden Age, Silver Age, Bronze Age, and some nice Modern stuff - most of which will be sold in attractive lots with low starting prices. Marvel and DC Super heroes will be in the mix, of course, but there will be more interesting comics as well. Things you don't see every day.

SHIPPING

[IMPORTANT] - I am no longer able to offer low cost shipping options. eBay forces sellers to guarantee delivery and that means all shipments must be insured and shipped with some sort of delivery confirmation. eBay does not allow buyers to opt out of those options to reduce shipping and handling cost so insurance and confirmation cost will be built into the handling fee. Just factor the shipping cost into your bid. I will combine shipping for multiple purchases. eBay's rules were too squirrelly for me to figure out so I will just work it out with you at the end of the sale.

INTERNATIONAL BIDDERS! Comics and books are now apparently eligible for eBay's "Global Shipping Program" so feel free to bid using that option. I cannot provide a shipping cost to the buyer since part of it is charged by a third party service and even the US portion of shipping is not determined until the buyer completes the check out process after the sale. eBay's rules make any other method of international shipping cost prohibitive so the "Global Shipping Program" is the only international shipping option available.
