We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery.   We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. The tracks represent previously unreleased recording sessions that  lasted from February till October 1967 and took place at the Olympic Studios in London except otherwise noted. The sessions were interrupted by the European tour in March and April and by many days for a 'drug bust' court case. The tracks from the acetate were only working titles.

The original title for the album was considered to be Cosmic Christmas."

Defining the period might be the subject of some debate, but we would offer that it begins with the release of Between The Buttons and ends with the release of the Jumpin' Jack Flash single. In studio sessions concluding in late 1966, The Rolling Stones completed their strongest pop effort yet "Between the Buttons" with the song Something Happened to Me Yesterday. Little did anyone know that this would be the beginning of a new course for the band. A foreshadowing of forays into drug use and the music that would somehow define these experiences. This scene was not new to Brian Jones (he was busted twice for drugs during the making of "Their Satanic Majesties Request"), but clearly for the rhythm and blues purest defining the music of the time with psychedelic phrasings would not have been to his liking. In fact, the "excuse" that was given for his leaving the band was the he was not seeing eye-to-eye with group members on the direction that the music was going in: "I want to play my kind of music, which is no longer Stones music". This would have been true in 1967, when the band shed Andrew Loog Oldham in favor of doing their own thing, but in 1969 his departure took place at the peak of their Delta Blues influence, and on the heels of "Beggars Banquet" and "Let It Bleed".

Some would say that "Their Satanic Majesties Request" was just a 'tag along' of the Beatles own adventure into the psychedelic on "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band", but this is not the case as the Stone's definition of psychedelic would be harsher and without the candy coated pop that would define the efforts of the Beatles own concept album. Satanic Majesties in fact was a pure form effort at psychedelica. In the mid Sixties the psychedelic "acid rock" genre of music was gaining a great deal attention and popularity. ....

Without a doubt, no Rolling Stones album -- and, indeed, very few rock albums from any era -- split critical opinion as much as the Rolling Stones' psychedelic outing. Many confess of a fascination with the album's inventive arrangements, which incorporated some African rhythms, Mellotrons, trippy sound effects and full arrangements. Never before or since did the Stones take so many chances in the studio. The material is very strong, particularly the glorious "She's a Rainbow," with its beautiful harmonies, piano, and strings; the riff-driven "Citadel"; the hazy, dream-like "In Another Land," Bill Wyman's debut writing (and singing) credit on a Stones release; and the majestically dark and doomy cosmic rocker "2000 Light Years From Home," with some of the creepiest synthesizer effects (devised by Brian Jones) ever to grace a rock record. The psychedelic jam "Sing This All Together (See What Happens)." is an infectious sing-along with a host of friends (ala The Beatles and others)... It's a much better record than some people give it credit for being, though, with a strong current of creeping uneasiness that undercuts the gaudy psychedelic flourishes. In 1968, the Stones would go back to the basics, and never wander down these paths again, making this all the more of a fascinating anomaly in the group's discography.
