Other Info - Perhaps the greatest of all Cape Breton fiddlers, this recording collects all of Chisholm's recordings,  from November, 1934 to the early 1950s.

I was fortunate enough to know him in the late 1960s in Boston. At that time the Scottish and Cape Breton folks in Boston would gather weekly at Orange Hall in Brookline. Angus, along with Bill Lamey, Joe Cormier, 13-year-old Jerry Holland, Joe MacLean, John Campbell and any other musicians who happened to be visiting from Scotland or the Cape (and there were many, including Wilfred Gillis, Winston Fitzgerald, Hector MacAndrew and Ronnie Gonella!). In between sets the 'gentlemen' musicians would step outside where a 'wee dram' would be passed around in a chased silver flask. Angus certainly enjoyed his portion (too much, say some).

I remember that Angus was the master of the slow air. Too long to fit on the single record format, he never commercially recorded any of them - but let me say that there were very few dry eyes in the Hall when he finished! From the slow air he would move to a march or strathspey and then finish up with a 'blast' of reels.

Condition - The cover is pristine. The record has a few light scuff marks but plays silently.
