QUEEN BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY / FROM THE "NIGHT AT THE OPERA" LP PORTUGAL (1976) LABEL: Valentim de Carvalho CATALOG:  8E 006 - 97 140 G FORMAT:  VINYL 7" SINGLE RELEASED: 1976 COUNTRY: PORTUGAL

COMMENTS:  "Bohemian Rhapsody" is a song composed in 1975 by Freddie Mercury, member of the British band Queen, and included in his album A Night at the Opera. This song has no chorus, and consists of three main parts: a segment of ballad that ends with a guitar solo, an operatic passage and a section of hard rock. In it, Freddie Mercury, Roger Taylor and Brian May sing respectively in the medium, acute and serious tessituras. May plays guitar, Taylor plays drums, eardrum and gong, and John Deacon plays electric bass. When it was released as a single, "Bohemian Rhapsody" became a commercial success, getting top of the UK Singles Chart for nine weeks and selling over one million copies by the end of January 1976. It reached the top of the charts in several other markets, including Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland and the Netherlands. The single was accompanied by a promotional video, innovative for the time, and popularized the use of video clips for singles release, in addition to having been considered the initial mark of the "era of the MTV". Although the critical reaction was initially divided, particularly in the United States, "Bohemian Rhapsody" remains one of Queen's most popular songs. Rolling Stone ranked her in 166th position on her list "The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time," and considered her guitar solo to be the 20th best solo of all time.
