Condition of jacket: Still sealed in original shrink wrap, but with some slight moisture damage to bottom edge that the shrink wrap kept from being too bad. Please see photos. Very slight warp to sealed package, probably from having been stored flat in a stack rather than vertically.

Condition of record: Sealed, and probably near mint despite the slight moisture damage to bottom edge of jacket. (I came across a stash of All-State records from 1966-1967, all with slight moisture damage to the bottom edge, and most of which were still sealed - but on the few that had been opened, the records do not seem to be affected.)

About the Conductor:
Prof. Marvin Rabin is Director of the Wisconsin String Development Program for the University of Wisconsin Extension Music Department and School of Music, and founder of a new Wisconsin Youth Orchestra.

He studied first at Transylvania College, then the University of Kentucky. He holds a M.M. degree from Eastman and has completed the course work for the doctoral degree at the University of Illinois.

Prof. Rabin has studied conducting with Fritz Mahler and Pierre Monteux, and participated in conducting workshops under Lert, Ormandy, and Steinberg.

From 1945 - 1958 Mr. Rabin taught in Kentucky, first in Louisville, then in Lexington at the University of Kentucky.

From 1958 - 1966 Mr. Rabin taught at Boston University, where he founded the Greater Boston Youth Symphony Orchestra. Under his direction the orchestra played in Symphony Hall, Carnegie Hall, and, at the request of President and Mrs. Kennedy, at the White House.

He has acted as clinician in string workshops throughout the United States and Canada, and has conducted All-State and Regional Festival Orchestras in 32 states.

For the past seventeen years the Ohio Music Education Assn. has sponsored the Region - All-State Orchestra activity. This program is unique in the United States, Each region in the state has an orchestra comprised of selected high school band and orchestra students. From five separate region orchestras selections are made for the All-State Orchestra. The orchestra has appeared at two OMEA conventions - - 1955 in Cleveland and 1961 in Columbus for the North Central Music Educators National Conference. The Region - All-State Orchestra program has done much to stimulate orchestral activity in Ohio.
