Description
On offer here is one of the rarest and most collectable of any BEATLES albums, this a first pressing of THE BEATLES 'STEREO' LP “PLEASE PLEASE ME” on the PARLOPHONE label (BLACK/GOLD labels) No. PCS 3042, only 900 of these were ever pressed.
Denoting it as a first pressing , it has “The Parlophone Co Ltd” text around the label rims, small 331/3 , Dick James accreditations and NO “recording first published” text.
Matrix numbers are YEX 94-1 & 95-1, with mother stampers side 1. 3 O’clock ‘A‘, 9 O’clock ‘1‘, Side 2. 3 O’clock ‘R’, 9 O’clock ’1’, & there is the embossed Z T tax code on side one label.
Record is housed in the original E.J. Day flip-back cover, with Angus McBean text right at the bottom on front of cover opening edge side, and displaying large ‘STEREO’ on the front.
Well now for the condition of this ultra rare item, whilst it’s not mint, it’s not bad.
Overall would grade vinyl as VG to VG+, yes there are some marks with side one playing EXCELLENT, even quiet between tracks. Side two again some marks, plays all through without any sticking, skips or jumps, but does have some light crackle from time to time.
Overall it gives a superb dynamic ‘stereo’ sound with clear vocals.
Flip-back cover is fully intact (save for 75mm piece of the upper flipback missing), no rips tears or writing, some scuffs to lower edge and corners and there is a 40mm split to lower edge next to opening side, and lightest of handling marks, Spine reads as new, again graded as VG
Both labels are in EXCELLENT condition.
