Description

Rare and original 1959 The Ritchie Valens Story 45 RPM EP in its original cardstock sleeve. This long-play 45 features four songs performed by Ritchie Valens: Donna, La Bamba, That’s My Little Suzie, and In A Turkish Town. One side is labeled EPH 21 901 A on the orange center label and 21901A in the dead wax; the opposite side is labeled EPH 21 901 B and 21901B. Both sides are stamped “Made in Germany” and “D9” in the dead wax. Manufactured by Polydor in the Del-Fi Series. The 6&7/8” diameter record is in good condition with signs of age and use, including wear/scratching of the record surface and slight wear to the paper labels. The record plays through on both sides without skipping or stalling; there is noticeable but normal “noise” in the sound background. No chips, cracks, warping, soiling, or staining. The labels have no missing paper or writing; there is an approximately 1/4” tape mark to the right of the Polydor banner on side A. The original 7&1/8 square cardstock sleeve features Ritchie Valens on the front; it is marked “21901 EPH” and HI-FI in the top right corner. The back features a brief biography of Ritchie Valens, including the details of his beginnings as a musician, his chart successes, and a mention of his death in a plane crash on February 3, 1959. The sleeve reads “Printed in Germany” and is dated “9-59” and also reads “21901 EPH” in the top and bottom right corners. The sleeve is in very good condition with minimal signs of age and use. There is normal surface and edge wear. The colors are bright and glossy; there are no rips, tears, cuts, bends, writing, or soiling.
