Here's a real treat for fans of old-time radio! These original MILITARY 16" RADIO TRANSCRIPTION DISCS broadcast to our armed forces throughout the world. Each disc contains a complete 30-minute program and was never broadcast to the general public.

"COMMAND PERFORMANCE" was the most famous of all the radio shows aired exclusively for servicemen. An all-star cast of movie & radio stars, musicians and celebrities appeared on the show over the years.

This particular disc is the 299th episode of "COMMAND PERFORMANCE" as broadcast to servicemen. It has a date-stamp of DECEMBER 5, 1947 but I think it was released in June. Appearing on the program are host MARGARET WHITING, announcer HY AVERBACK, radio comic actor LIONEL STANDER (who serves up his ideas for a fresh new radio network - "Professor I.O.U.", with young actor TOMMY COOK and JUNE FORAY as contestants; novelty hillbilly singers ABIGAIL & BUDDY; Stander as the noir detective star of "RICHARD ROGUE", a parody of radio gumshoes. Also performing were actress DORIS SINGLETON (best remembered as Carolyn Appleby on "I LOVE LUCY") and THE NOVELTY ACES. The disc is 16" in diameter and was found in a protective paper sleeve. A very funny show!

ALSO INCLUDED: The 279th episode of "COMMAND PERFORMANCE" as broadcast to servicemen. It has a date-stamp of DECEMBER 13, 1947 but I think it was released in June. Appearing on the program are host DINAH SHORE, announcer HOWARD PETRIE, singer ART LUND and the brilliant musician / comedian VICTOR BORGE (doing his classic "Punctuation" routine). The disc is 16" in diameter and was found in a protective paper sleeve.

These 16" transcription discs will not play on conventional turntables. Because of a few bad apples who try to return discs after recording them, I do not accept returns on transcription discs. All are sold "AS IS". However, as my feedback record shows, I am a fair and honest seller so if you encounter any issues, please contact me.

See photos for a closer look. The 76-year-old record has some light surface wear with no significant cuts, skips or scratches. A wonderful example for display and entertainment! I will pack it very securely for safe passage.
