1896 BERLINER'S GRAMOPHONE Record "DIXIE" George Gaskin Handwritten Label 942
PLEASE NOTE: Record is black in color. Photos give the appearance that the color is lighter than they really are. However, the photos give a better representation of pressing flaws, scratches, the imprinted label, etc. So, I used these photos for the auction. But, please remember, the actual record is black in color.
Up for auction we have the following E. Berliner's Gramophone record titled:
"Dixie". Sung by George Gaskin. Berliner number 942. Dated Oct. 14, 1896. Title and artist handwritten etched on label. Shows scratching.
Record shows good amount of pressing imperfections consistent with records of this early period. Plays, but with usual background hissing and crackling (especially with this being an 1896 recording). Record has no chips or cracks that I could see.
Opening bid starting at $9.95 with no reserve.
