Description

THIRTEENTH FLOOR ELEVATORS
You're Gonna Miss Me

You want intensity? 'You're Gonna Miss Me' delivers an adrenaline rush that's almost frightening - guitars chomping out sinister, reverberated riffs, while Roky Erickson shakes and screams and an electric jug babbles a strange, delirious subtext.

It was a song that Roky brought with him when he joined the 13th Floor Elevators, and had previously cut on an impossibly rare 45 with The Spades. The song was polished, intensified, and rendered here as a genre defining slice of psychedelia.

This is the seminal Texas punk garage record.

The song was first released by the 'Elevators on the Contact Records label in Houston, back in January of 1966, then released again on the International Artists label a few months later. After picking up airplay in Houston, Austin and Dallas it was released again through a national deal with Hanna-Barbera.

This IS one of those essential record any garage / psyche collector MUST own. THIS IS ALSO THE ORIGINAL PRESSING on Contact Records. You might have been able to pick one of these up if you lived in Austin back in '66, or if you went to one of their club dates, but otherwise this first 45 pressing is pretty tough find.
