Description

This week I have a collection of original Thirteenth Floor Elevators 45s for sale. These include several of the rarer variations of
the You're Gonna Miss Me 45, and original pressings of most of their other singles. Up for sale here is...

You're Gonna Miss Me / Tried To Hide
Hanna-Barbera Records HBR-492

Ultra rare withdrawn HBR pressing of the Elevators' debut single.

In June 1966 HBR verbally agreed a deal to license the single from the International Artists label, but began
pressing at two plants [Los Angeles and Nashville] before any contract was signed. The deal then fell through,
so HBR had to destroy the records they had pressed.

All the L.A. pressings were successfully destroyed, but a very small amount of Nashville pressings slipped out to retail.
This copy is one of the few that survived.

Condition
Vinyl: visually G, audibly VG
Sleeve: VG

There is an edge warp on the vinyl. While this causes the arm to wobble slightly, both sides play through fine on my deck
with no jumps or skips (tracking at the regular 1.75g force). There are several surface scuffs/needle lines on both sides,
but no heavier marks.

The labels on both sides look terrific with only light wear.

There is a 'swish' sound from the warp which is loud for a couple of revolutions during the run in, but fades away within a
few seconds on both tracks. After this, both sides play great with just some light surface noise.

The record is housed in the original blue HBR company sleeve. This has clear tape along two sides, presumably closing
up splits. I will place the 45 inside a plain sleeve when shipping to prevent any further splitting.

Check out the audio for each track below.

On 18-Sep-13 at 01:08:08 BST, seller added the following information:

++++++MATRIX INFORMATION++++++
Following some enquiries, here are details about the matrix numbers etched in the trail off area.
side a: HB-LH 2176 D-2
side b: HBX-LH 2177 D-2

Both sides also have SM etched in a separate area of the dead wax

Having had a look at the matrix numbers from copies previously sold on eBay, these all mention someadditional matrix text - HBR 492 X re on the a side / HBR 492 XX re on the b side.
I cannot see any such text on this copy. The discography printed in the recent Elevators singles collectionCD also includes this extra text in the entry for this record. It doesn't mention a variant which omits this text, just that there are some copies with a b-side matrix ending D-3 instead of D-2.
If anyone can shed light on this or has any queries, please contact me.
