Description
12" Acetete LP from Wynder K Frog on EMIDISC recording blank - 9 tracks. This was originally obtained directly from a member of Mick Weaver's family.
Condition is good for it's age and the general fragility of acetates. It shows some wear, with surface scuffs but no major or deep scratches. Grooves look intact. There is some loss of the acetate material in two places at the very edge of the disc where the aluminium base shows through but the damage does not reach the run in groove and it is stable with no peeling. Please note that his item is nearly 50 years old and is therefore going to show a certain amount of age related wear. Also, being an acetate, which was meant to be played only a few times, it will not have perfect sound quality. The sound quality was still clear with some surface noise and crackling the last time I heard this disc played and it has not been played since then so I would expect no further deterioration.
The cover was originally plain white but now shows considerable age with discolouration. The artist name has been added on a strip of tape at some point in the distant past. The central drawing is a pen sketch and is also a stuck on addition. It shows and shows a frog smoking a 'cigarette' and surrounded by Rizla packets. I was informed that this drawing was originally done by either Mick Weaver himself or by his oldest sister. Eileen Weaver.
There is also a faint face drawn on the cover and some scribbling on the back cover. There is a small hole pierced into the centre back cover and pushes slightly through the front. It does not damage the frog drawing.
I have no way of playing this now and I have heard this disc played only once, some time back and have only a vague recollection of the content and there is no overall track listing. I can confirm that it sounds later than the Sunshine Super Frog LP and could possibly be a trial run for the second solo album, Out of the Frying Pan, but that has 13 tracks and this acetate only 9. I also seem to recall there is a version of The Who's Happy Jack and also a take of 'Tequila' which may be the same one as on Out of the Frying Pan which would definitely date the disc to 1967/1968 The only information given on the label is that is 'The Mono Album' so I would guess it is much earlier than the third solo album in 1970.
