Worlds' - As Time Flows On LP
World Production label (J-World- BSE-2, 1980, Roxbury, Massachusetts, original pressing, black vinyl)
The follow-up to the ultra-rare Worlds' Experience Orchestra -the beginning of a new birth LP (world productions BSE-1) from 1975, this is a live recording made in Boston in February 1977 (vinyl pressed in 1980), and features a smaller line up than the previous LP with Roy Hall (vocalist/percussionist) being the only musician added to the group in the interim.
Stylistically, this recording maintains a deep, flowing soul-jazz vibe with four long groove-laden tracks. All tracks are structured around the conscious, positive minded poetry of Larry Roland which is gradually blended into layers of percussion, warm jazz grooves, & soulful vocalizing comparable to much of Gil Scott Heron's mid 70's material (minus the anger).
All of my attempts to research this album have been fruitless, indicating that this is a genuine obscurity, even within the realm of private-press spiritual jazz...
For those interested in hearing some of the recording before bidding, I ripped directly from vinyl three brief excerpts of the album and have posted them here: mediafire.com/?9us388i99pg8byp, mediafire.com/?g25406l7qul1m3j, mediafire.com/?kvjq5n5obrdqh6q
- VINYL is VG+. The record has some light scuffs/marks but both sides play beautifully without skipping. Surface noise should be infrequent and minor. Both labels are in excellent condition. Both sides spin completely flat without any signs of storage warp, etc...
- SLEEVE is VG+. Double sided paste-on sleeve. The cover could easily be mistaken for an El-Saturn design, both sides feature simple but beautiful black & white paste-ons. There is a small tear (approx 8"s from the top) on the far right side of the front sleeve, and some very slight purple staining on the bottom of sleeve (both sides). The drummer Chauncy Hutcherson has also signed the back cover (top right sleeve). See photos for details.
