If you collect Promotional Rock & Roll LPs you won’t want to pass up bidding on the LP in this auction! It’s the 3-RECORD WHITE LABEL PROMOTIONAL SET for the movie “WOODSTOCK”, music from the original soundtrack and more. If you’ve never seen the movie, you’ve missed out on seeing a vital part of Rock & Roll history that was preserved on film for the big screen. If you were at Woodstock, the movie cannot fully portray the experience of being there. This triple vinyl record set is Cotillion Records SD 3-500 that was released in 1970. This Promo LP is incredibly rare and this is only the second copy I’ve had in the past 20 years. As you know promotional records were pressed in very limited quantities and only made available to special people in the industry and to the DJs at the Radio Stations for on-air play. This makes them VERY sought after due to their rarity and limited quantities. The front cover has an orange “Promotional Copy” sticker at top left with some sticker residue present around the sticker. There are 2 other stickers, one on the front cover and the other inside the tri-fold LP cover, and both stickers read “THIS IS A DOCUMENTARY RECORDING OF THE EVENTS AT WOODSTOCK. IT WOULD BE MOST ADVISABLE TO SCREEN THIS RECORD CAREFULLY BEFORE CLEARING IT FOR AIR PLAY.” Basically, this was a warning to the DJ not to blindly throw the vinyl on the turntable and play just any cut on the LP, like Country Joe McDonald’s Fish Cheer, without screening first. It’s a GREAT LP with LIVE WOODSTOCK PERFORMANCES by: John Sebastian, Canned Heat, Country Joe & the Fish, Arlo Guthrie, Sha-Na-Na, Joan Baez, Crosby, Stills, Nash (& Young), The Who, Joe Cocker, Santana, Ten Years After, Jefferson Airplane, Sly & the Family Stone, Butterfield Blues Band, and Jimi Hendrix. The COVER is graded NICE VG CONDITION with overall cover wear, corner wear, spine/edge wear and a small sticker stain at top right on the front. The VINYL, ALL SIX SIDES, IS GRADED NEAR MINT with just a few light scuffs and hairlines. The labels are clean and snow-white without any marks or writing on them. It is truly a PROMOTIONAL PIECE OF ROCK & ROLL VINYL HISTORY FOR YOU TO MAKE A PART OF YOUR VINYL COLLECTION! FYI: I use Goldmine Grading Standards (G for Good, VG for Very Good, VG+ for Very Good Plus, NM for Near Mint, M for Mint) to VISUALLY grade the LPs and 45s I auction, so please know the descriptions of these grades before bidding.
