Description

THE BEATLES - 'WITH THE BEATLES'

1963 UK 2nd MONO PRESSING LP

This initial 1st UK mono pressing dates from late 1963 & has -1N/-1N matrices. This cut featured the earliest and most powerful mix which was withdrawn a matter of days after release after complaints form buyers about jumping. However, no such problems exist when played on modern turntables and you can fully enjoy the massive & incredible initial mix as it was originally approved and intended to be heard.

Most discs with this 1N cutting cut are found with the 1st label variant which bears the 'Jobete' publishing credit for the song 'Money'. However, this copy carries the 2nd variant where the publishing credit for the song 'Money' has been corrected to 'Dominion.Belinda..'

This early example is housed in any extremely early and rare cover which depicts a significantly darker, more 'moody' front image as I have illustrated in the 4th image to the right of this text.

This superb conditioned initial pressing is on the yellow & black Parlophone label: PMC 1230

Both labels omit the 'Sold in UK..' text but carry 'Parlophone Co. Ltd..' worded rims.

The publishing credit following the 'Money' title is: 'Dominion.Belinda (Ldn.) Ltd.'

The track 3 title on side 2 has been revised as: 'You Really Got A Hold On Me'

The 'KT' purchase tax code is visible around the side 2 centre hole.

Housed in a rare, early front laminated, tri-flipback 'Garrod & Lofthouse' printed mono cover with that darker front image.

The track listing on the rear also misspells track 3 on side 2 as; 'You Really Gotta Hold On Me'

Complete with its original 'Use Emitex..' poly-lined inner-sleeve.

Matrix numbers: XEX 447-1N & XEX 448-1N

Stamper codes: 8/GAD & 1,7/RDH

Disc weight: 146g

CONDITION

Disc

Labels: EXCELLENT

A vibrant, unblemished pair with just some light spindle trails around each centre hole.

Visual: EXCELLENT +

Pristine, deep-gloss surface which appear 'as new' and are indeed unmarked in strong daylight. Close examination directly beneath my unforgiving powerful halogen desk lamp reveals just a handful of extremely light and faint surface marks form inner-sleeve removal, but no scratches or visible groove damage whatsoever. Both sides of this fine copy lie 100% flat on the turntable with no traces of any dishing or warping.

Play: EXCELLENT +

This explosive sounding & cherished copy has been treated with real care and received only extremely careful play during its lifetime. All tracks play with a fullness clarity missing from any other cutting of this album. Apart from a hint of light background on 'Til There Was You' & a few soft ticks in the band between tracks 1 & 2 on side 1, my careful play-check at volume found no other traces of wear to any track. Tough to find a better sounding copy of this explosive sounding pressing which will not disappoint.

Cover

EXCELLENT

A terrific example of this delicate, easily blemished over which was constructed from very brittle card stock. The striking front panel image is perfectly clean & unyellowed with the high-gloss laminate displaying just a hint of a disc impression but no 'thumbnail' wrinkles or any other significant wear. There is slight wear to the left corners but no bumps or heavy bruising to any. There is a trace of wear to the lower part of the front opening edges but there are no tears or missing paper front or rear. The rear panel is as clean as you will ever find with just a few faint handling marks but certainly no significant blemishes or any writing or missing paper. All flipbacks are perfectly clean & fully intact and both seams and the spine are smooth, unstressed and totally unworn.

Inner-sleeve

EXCELLENT

Clean& & fully intact with some minor handling/storage marks but no writing, tears or seams splits.
