Grading Standards
Near Mint (M-) Vinyl: A nearly perfect record. Vinyl and labels appear rarely if ever handled or played. Aside from any surface particles and/or dust that can be cleaned, playback will not be impeded by surface noise.
Jacket: Only light imperfections due to handling are present. No seam splits, cut-out holes, egregious writing or other noticeable defects, including on any inserts, posters, lyric sleeves, etc.
Very Good Plus (VG+) Vinyl: Vinyl and labels show minor signs that the record was played and handled. Record surfaces may show some signs of wear and may have slight scuffs or very light surface scratches that don’t sound. Spindle marks may be present, minor pops and clicks may be occasionally present but in no way detract from playback.
Jacket: Light shelf, seam or spine wear and/or discoloration may be present. Minor corner dings and/or dents, COH, saw mark, or cut corner. Any inserts may show signs that the record has been handled and played. Unobtrusive writing on jacket may be present.
Very Good (VG) Vinyl and jacket will show moderate signs of handling and play. Surface noise will be evident upon playing but will not overpower the music. Groove wear may start to be noticeable, as with light scratches (deep enough to feel with a fingernail) that will affect the sound. Labels and/or jacket may be marred by writing, or have tape or stickers (or their residue) attached. Checks, writing, minor sean splits, creased corners, tears may be present.
