WITNESS OF VENUS

Lost & Found EP

Zazu France

12" Cat: ZAZU 002
Rel: 15 Jun 26
Minimal House/Tech House Side 1 - Track 1. Occult Prohecy (Classy mix) Side 1 - Track 2. Shark Bait (MB Resonance) Side 2 - Track 1. Shark Bait (TCM remix) Side 2 - Track 2. The Shark Bait (Hindwood Vision)

Having launched early last year via a smart collection of club-ready tech-house cuts by label founder Hindmood, Paris-based Zazu Records returns for round two. This time round, they've treated us to a label debut from self-styled mystery artist Witness of Venus, a producer who has previously released as Brique and T.C.M. There's a pleasingly psychedelic, saucer-eued feel about opener 'Occult Prophecy (Classy Mix)', where vintage ambient techno electronics and deeply spacey melodic motifs ride a thrusting beat, while 'Shark Bait (MB Renaissance)' offers an energy-building blend of squelchy TB-303 acid trickery, stabbing electronics and moody tech-house grooves. That track is re-imagined on the flip, with the artist's own T.C.M remix - a sub-heavy ambient techno-meets-tech-house affair - being followed by an even more druggy and intoxicating Hindmood take.
