Description

After the black and gold stereo pressings of "Please, Please Me" one of the rarest of The Beatles albums in stereo - and a genuine first press. Back in 1963 when this was released, nearly all of the copies sold were in mono.

The Garrod & Lofthouse cover is in a clean and tidy condition with no writing whatsoever. There is a light crease to the top left of Robert Freeman's iconic black and white photograph above John's head, the feintist evidence of ringwear and some, very slight, age colouration to the rear. Large 'stereo' and the, incorrect, "You Really Gotta Hold On Me" credit. Emitex inner sleeve, in excellent condition.

Both disc labels are clean with virtually no 'spidering' and no writing. Side 2 has the inaccurate "Jobete" credit for "Money" and "You Really Gotta Hold On Me" for track three. The 'KT' tax code is embossed on side two. The "all rights of the manufacturer" statement begins with "The Parlophone Co Ltd" . There is no "Sold in the UK" message.

The vinyl is in wonderful condition retaining it's original sheen. There is a light hairline scratch approximately 1.5 cm long across tracks 1 and 2 on side one but this is the only visible mark. Having been pressed on the heavy duty vinyl used in 1963 it has no effect on the audio quality of this record which I believe most dealers would grade as excellent (if not higher). There is the occasional very distant 'crackle' during 3 or 4 of the run-ins and the very end run out on side one - but that is it. It was a wonderful experience to play it through prior to listing. This is truely an excellent copy of this highly collectable and rare album. The matrix and stampers are YEX110-2, '2' RP on side one and YEX111-2, '3'GL on side two.

I hope that my description, together with my pictures, provide you with a comprehensive representation of this much coveted album, but if you have any questions do not hesitate to contact me.

I am a collector and not a dealer. Current circumstances force me to break up my collection. Those of you who have previously bought from me will know that I try to be as honest as I can with my descriptions. Usually to a point of being over critical. I would ask those of you who have not bought from me to kindly check out my feedback from previous buyers.

2nd class recorded delivery within the United Kingdom will be charged at £3.00. If you prefer special delivery (and I would recommend this) will be £6.75. For bidders within the EU the standard (uninsured) postage will be £4.00. For succesful bidders outside of the EU the standard (uninsured) charge will be £6.50. International signed for airmail will be at £10.00. It will be posted in a cardboard envelope and sandwiched between two stiffeners. I cannot accept any liability for the loss or damage of any uninsured item in the mail.

Please note - I require payment for this item within 7 DAYS after the auction closes. Will any prospective bidders who have a feedback rating of under five, or who have negative feedback within the last six months kindly contact me prior to making a bid. Otherwise I may have to cancel your bid(s). I am sorry about this but I am sure that genuine bidders will understand.

Thank you for looking - and GOOD LUCK.

I am sorry about the speck of dust on my original picture of the side 2 label. I have added a revised picture to correct this (#6)
