This is the rare 1st Press issue of 'Argus' by Wishbone Ash. This LP is on the rare 1st Press Blue/Black MCA. It has the 1L/1L matrix and the 1st Press Gatefold Robert Stace sleeve (the earliest for this issue). Only a very few copies were ever pressed like this, as almost all copies have later issue matrix numbers. Do not be fooled by people selling copies with later matrices as 1st Presses. This is a genuine 1st Press and what makes this copy even rarer is an ULTRA RARE TYPO on the cover that states "SECCOND PASSAGE" next to Andy Powell's name, even though it should state "SECOND PASSAGE". Any fan of Wishbone Ash or classic rock in general will want this in their collection.
The record is in EXCELLENT condition!! MOST IMPORTANTLY: Often on a CD or a Very Good or less condition record it is difficult to distinguish the two different guitars on "Throw Down The Sword", but with this it is abundantly clear and very important as this is really what Wishbone Ash were all about!! It has a bright shine with only one or two of the slightest harlines (that are barely noticeable unless under very strong light). On playing the sound is extremely good, sharp and clear, and there is almost no crackle whatsoever (only extremely light touches on the run-ins and that's ALL!!). The 1st Press blue and black label is bold and unworn. There is almost no spindle wear. The record comes with its original inner sleeve.
The gatefold Robert Stace press sleeve is in Excellent condition. The matt printing has a sensational bright shine and the image is still sharp. The colours are EXTREMELY bold and I have never seen a better cover, and there are only a few very slight creases. The whole cover still feels very solid and the spine is firm with clear text. The opening edge is beautifully straight with NO feathering!
