              Label:- . DERAM   Catalogue:- . SML 1041   Details:- . Here we have an original 1969 stereo 1st UK pressing on the highly collectible Deram label. It comes in the original front laminated sleeve and still has the Deram blue stereo inner bag. This album sold in tiny numbers hence it's rarity now. If you want a really 'out there' and rare psych folk LP then this could be just what your looking for. Super rare and never issued on CD.   William R. Strickland is the name of the singer-songwriter-performer who put out this odd record on London/Deram records back in 1969. He plays guitar, sometimes accompanied by the London Philharmonic, and sings about World War 3 (1/2) and computer love (long before internet dating). I guess you would call him a folk singer--he certainly has the Dylan-style sneer down--but the general weirdness of the songs (which he says were largely improvised) lends a certain psychedelic quality to the whole affair. I guess if I had to suggest a point of comparison (and an obscure one at that) I'd say he reminds me of Peter Grudzien without the gay subtext and with a wider range of instruments (there's even a Jew's harp on one track). There is a recent article about him online from the Santa Cruz Sentinal that refers to an older (1976) review that said he was like "a kinky cross between Mark Twain and Lenny Bruce" and that Strickland calls himself "a mix of Willie Nelson and Pink Floyd." http://playitagainmax.blogspot.com/2006/11/william-r-strickland-william-r.html   Vinyl Condition:- . Sounds as good as it looks.) FULL REFUND ON RETURN IF NOT SATISFIED   Sleeve Condition:- . VG (The back of the sleeve is unlaminated and black so this ineveitable shows some wear and ringwear. Some corner creases in the laminate, small creases going down the spine, small cracks in the laminate down the spine. The spine is fully readable   The record has been vacuum machine cleaned and fully test played through Spendor (BBC) LS3/5A mini-monitors

GRADING ABBREV DESCRIPTION MINT M The record is as new. The cover and any inserts should be in perfect condition.
Many Dealers do not use this classification as A record is unlikely to arrive through the post in truly mint condition. EXCELLENT
PLUS EX+ The record is near-mint, there is no damage or visible surface marking. Under Bright Light you may see fine lines on the record, caused by rubbing on the paper sleeve. Reserve this grade for records where you have difficulty spotting anything wrong.
The Cover and inserts are undamaged. EXCELLENT EX The record may show some signs of having been played, possibly with light surface marks or fingerprints but there is no appreciable lessening in sound quality.
The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing. EXCELLENT
MINUS EX- There may be fairly visible surface markings under bright light but the sound quality of the record is not adversely affected.
The Cover and inserts may have noticeable light creasing or "foxing" due to dampness but they are all present and intact. VERY GOOD VG The record has obviously been played a lot, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality despite surface marks and some light scratches. Also Use this grading where the record has suffered perhaps one more visible scratch, but is otherwise in EX or better condition.
The cover may be creased a little and/or frayed at the opening. You should itemize any more serious damage such as tears.
