Description
Continuing JAZZ auction series of original Classic Jazz, Bop, Cool Jazz plus select Brazilian Bossa Nova/Samba and Latin Jazz LPs and 10" albums -followed by some choice outside and free jazz plus a few very rare avant garde / Experimental LPs.
Labels included here are Blue Note, Clef, Fantasy, Contemporary, Pacific Jazz, Verve, Atlantic, World Pacific, Seeco, Odeon, Philips, Finnadar, ECM, WATT, Nimbus, BASF, Impulse, CTI, Capitol, RCA Victor and a few others. Most of these records are in VG+ to VG++ condition, with a few NM and a few VG ...many quite scarce.

COVER: VG+
~Vivid and bright, very clean with mere whisper of wear. Snapping bright back has few faint small spots at bottom -otherwise superb. No creases, writing or soil. Partial split to top seam, neatly and tightly closed with clear, acid-free *Document Repair Tape -permanent, strong and ARCHIVAL. Nearly invisible. Spine and bottom seam are excellent with no splits.
*about the DOCUMENT REPAIR TAPE:This specially formulated tape will never peel, flake, yellow or out-gas upon the cover. It is a professional repair that will preserve the edges of the cover through your lifetime and beyond. Applied in an even, single strip, across entire seam, very clean and neat -leaving an "as manufactured" appearance.
VINYL: VG+/VG++
~High gloss vinyl has a few small scuffs on side 1, first track that produce a few clicks. Rest of side and all of side 2 are very clean with only a few faint hairlines. Deep groove 1st issue gold WORLD PACIFIC labels are super clean.
Original STEREO Deep Groove pressing of the early Mastersounds' 1958 LP, KISMET (World Pacific ST-1010) featuring a young guitarist WES MONTGOMERY on the verge of breaking out of Indianapolis into solo stardom -along with his brother MONK on bass and BUDDY on vibes.
Buddy Monk Montgomery formed the Mastersounds with pianist Richie Crabtree and drummer Benny Barth in 1957. The band cut ten records in four years for World Pacific, Pacific Jazz and Fantasy.Wes Montgomery appeared only on this one 1958 album.
The other two Montgomery brothers had numerous occasion to play with their more famous sibling under Wes' leadership throughout the 1960s.
