Panamanian soul legend Ralph Weeks revives his 1971 anthem 'Let Me Do My Thing' with a fresh studio rework for Names You Can Trust. Originally cut with the Dynamic Exciters as a fiery reply to Charles Wright's 'Express Yourself', the track's message of creative freedom became central to Weeks' legacy. This new version, recorded with an all-star NYCT ensemble including Victor Axelrod, Caito Sanchez and Anant Pradhan, retains the original's raw funk drive while deepening its groove and texture. Weeks' voice still glows with conviction and it's a reminder that the man who once declared his independence is still, decades on doing exactly that.
