Description

WAYNE GORBEA CON SU CONJUNTO “SALSA” - Salsa Boricua SMC Pro Arte 1133 GRAIL!!!

Wayne Gorbea Con Su Conjunto “Salsa” - Salsa Boricua
SMC-1133
1974
Here up for sale is an original copy of Gorbea’s fantastic debut recording on the legendary New York City label SMC Pro-Arte.
Both sides of the record cover are covered with signatures, and it appears to have been the personal copy of Gorbea’s parents!  The signatures include TWO from Gorbea, on the front and back (FRONT: “To Pop, love…” and BACK: “Love your son, Wayne Gorbea”) and many more from other members of the group! (I can’t make out every signature, so I’ve attached detailed photos for you to see them for yourself): Signatures include: Wayne Gorbea, Ronny Williams, Tito Parrilla, Frank Fernandez, Orlando Aviles, Jose Medina…etc.

See this link for more detailed photos of the cover: https://postimg.org/gallery/2s6t6ffa6/

According to my research this is only the third time this record has ever appeared for sale on eBay!
PLEASE NOTE: This record is a guaranteed ORIGINAL 1974 SMC pressing, this is NOT a reissue or a bootleg.
- Thin cardboard cover.
- Red SMC labels.

CONDITION:
COVER: VG/VG-:  Covered in writing (see photos and description above).  Some creasing and general wear to both sides (see photos).  Bottom edge mostly split save for 3” or so near the spine, top edge completely split (hence /VG- grade).  Spine has wear but no splits.  There is NO tape anywhere on this sleeve.  Additional photos can be provided on request.

LABELS: VG+/VG: Small writing on Side 1, and some clouding to the label on Side 2 (see photos).
VINYL: VG+: Retains gloss with light some light scuffs and marks, none feelable!  Plays through superbly, with some occasional pops but no deep marks (there are two pops in the track Chachaguere that repeat softly for two-three revolutions, see sound sample), and with light noise throughout due to the quiet pressing.  See full length sound samples below:

Additional sound samples available on request.
