Please know I am not a professional record collector. I am, however, a seasoned amateur who has spent years buying and selling records as a hobby. I use Goldmine's "Record Grading 101" as a guide when assessing a record's condition. I grade conservatively as I would rather buyers be pleasantly surprised by an item's condition than disappointed. I typically avoid assigning ratings of MINT condition to any item as even brand new albums have imperfecdtions (sleeve scuffing, corner dings, etc...). A significantly condensed version of the ratings I adhere to follows (Please seek out Goldmine's guide for more detailed explanations of these ratings):
MINT  (M) - A perfect album with no flaws or imperfections
Near Mint (NM) - Nearly perfect with only the slightest of minor imperfections
Very Good+ (VG+) - Record will show some signs that it was played and otherwise handled by a previous owner who took good care of it. Defects should be more of a cosmetic nature, not affecting the actual playback as a whole. Record surfaces may show some signs of wear and may have slight scuffs or very light scratches that don't affect one's listening experiences. Slight warps that do not affect the sound are acceptable. The label may have some ring wear or discoloration, but it should be barely noticeable. Spindle marks may be present. Picture sleeves and inner sleeves will have some slight wear, slightly turned-up corners, or a slight seam split. An LP cover may have slight signs of wear, and may be marred by a cut-out hole, indentation, or cut corner.
Very Good (VG) - Noticeable evidence of mild groove wear, scuffing and/or light scratching (deep enough to see and feel with a fingernail). Surface noise will be evident upon playing, especially in soft passages and during a song's intro and fade, but will not overpower the music otherwise. Labels may be marred by writing, or have tape or stickers (or their residue) attached. The same will be true of picture sleeves or LP covers. 
Good+ / Good (G+ or G) - Will have significant surface noise and visible wear in addition to likely imperfections on the label. A record in Good or Good+ condition can be played through without skipping, but it will have significant surface noise, scratches, and visible groove wear. A cover or sleeve will have seam splits, especially at the bottom or on the spine. Tape, writing, ring wear, or other defects will be present. While the record will be playable without skipping, noticeable surface noise and "ticks" will accompany playback.
Fair (F) / Poor (P) -  The record is cracked, badly warped, and won't play through without skipping or repeating. The picture sleeve is water damaged, split on all three seams and heavily marred by wear and writing. The LP cover barely keeps the LP inside it. Inner sleeves are fully split, crinkled, and written upon.

Item Description:
Up for bid is an original 1985 Capitol Records issue of W.A.S.P.'s fantastic sophomore release The Last Command. This particular record has certainly been used but remains relatively well maintained for an album of its age. The record shows a variety of blemishes/scuffs from previous use; similarly, the album jacket remains encased in its original factory shrink wrap with retail stickers attached. Please note, however, the outer jacket has a vareity of flaws as shown in the accompanying photos. For example, though the album is still housed in its factory shrink wrap a stain appears under the shrink wrap on the bottom front right corner and rear left corner. I don't know what the origin of this mild stain is. This stain was present when I purhcased the album as a used record a few months ago. At first glance, I thought the stain was on the shrink wrap but upon further inspection the stain is on the actual jacket under the shrink wrap. At any rate, I've photographed those two imperfections so you can see them. Likewise, the cover shows wear along the open edge where one accesses the record from the sleeve. The jacket also has some corner bumps and other normal signs of wear typical of a vintage record. Finally, the inner sleeve, while present, is worn. Each closed edge of the inner sleeve is splittinig, and the sleeve shows some creasing and general handling wear as shown. The sleeve, like the outer jacket, still looks nice overall. Also, this album still contains the collectible and often missing fan club insert, so that's a bonus! Even with its flaws, the album still plays well, but if you're looking for one of these in pristine condition this auction isn't for you. The album rates as follows: 
Vinyl = VG The vinyl plays without skipping but shows obvious signs of previous use as detailed above. There are various scuffs and blemishes evident upon viewing the vinyl.  Jacket = VG The outer jacket has been well preserved for a vintage album, but it shows a variety of cosmetic blemishes as described above.
