Description
You are bidding on the CLASSIC ROCKABILLY RECORD "ROCK 'N' ROLL RUBY" and "I'D RATHER BE SAFE THAN SORRY" by WARREN SMITH (1932-1980) on SUN 239 released in 1956.
"Rock 'N' Roll Ruby" (recorded Feb. 5, 1956) is a classic early Sun rockabilly with great lyrics - "She rocked on the tables, rolled on the floor, with everybody yellin' Ruby rock some more!".
"I Rather Be Safe Than Sorry" is a classic mid 1950s country weeper, very well done, one of my favorite country songs. Having a rockabilly song on one side and a country song on the other, Sam Phillips was trying to appeal to both the teenage and country markets.
I bought this at the Maria Sheaffer Record Store in downtown Des Plaines, Illinois in 1957. It was in the 10 cent bargain box in the exact same sleeve you'll receive.
Condition: VERY GOOD. No problems, a little background noise, a little wear on the paper at the spindle hole.
I am getting up in years and am selling what's left of my small collection, as my children and grandchildren are not interested.
