Description
WAL-401 from 1953: 4-LP oversized binder set with libretto insert with text in both German and English.
With: JS Bach's "Saint Matthew Passion". Hermann Scherchen conducts Symphony Orchestra and Chorus. Stars Magda Laszlo (soprano) and Hildegard Roessel-Majdan (contralto) and others. Featured instrumental soloists include Walter Barylli (solo violin), Wilhelm Huebner (1st violin), Richard Harrand (1st cello), Ferdinand Raab (1st viola), and others.
Box= VG+ with some corner wear and partial top right corner split. Inside the flaps there are 5 pages of photos, artist biographies and notes on the opera.
All 4 LPs= VG++ to Near Mint and looks like the set was played only one time. These LPs were originally placed in the inner sleeves with no other protective sleeve, I have upgraded to include plastic lined modern inner sleeves to accompany the original packaging. Most of the vinyl downgrade from Near Mint is due to scuffing from not having a 2nd protective inner sleeve for the LPs.
