General Electric  1960 Hi-Fidelity Portable Record Player
This is a beautiful and timeless design by GE... I have always loved these classic Tube record players;  I think these are a perfect representation of the fun and stylish designs of the 50's 60's.This restoration was alot of fun, and this player puts out a warm full sound that simply can't be beat!

The two toned cabinet looks simply fabulous.I recovered the base and top lid, with black and red original style coverings. This looks brand new, just like it would have in 1960.
Note! It is important when purchasing vintage electronics, to make sure the dried out or leaking capacitors in the amplifier have been replaced.A vintage record player may still work after 50 years, but the original capacitors will eventually fail, and cause serious damage to the players amplifier.
For this tube Amplifier, I put in all new capacitors, and all new resistors.Replaced the selenium rectifier with a new silicon diode, and installed a new 5X20mm fuse holder and 200Ma fuse. Both tubes test strong, and will be good for years to come!Tubes for this player are readily available and easy to replace whenever you may need new ones. I added a new long 12 foot power cord, and completely dismantled and rebuilt the original VM record changer and motor. The record changer is still in very nice shape, with only very light vintage wear. This plays in 45, 16 and 78 speed too, with a flip over needle for 78's.Comes complete with a rebuilt automatic 45 adapter too! You can stack LP's or 45's on this, and they will all play in turn, then the unit will automatically shut off when the last record is played.
You just can't beat the warm full sound of this vintage GE.To see and hear this beauty please click on the link above.Obviously nothing compares to listening in person, but at least it will give you an idea!
This is a portable Hi-Fi, so you can take it and set it up anywhere you like!Comes with new soft rubber feet on the bottom and side, and you can stand it on it's edge when you want to store it.If you need a stand, check out my other listing for the cute Danish Slat Bench that compliment's this nicely!
Here's one of my favorite singers Jack Jones, singing a wonderful Christmas classic from 1964!

A really fun design all around, and just perfect for the upcoming Holidays! Ideal for listening to those classic Christmas albums! Also makes a terrific gift for a friend, family member, or maybe even yourself !!

A Holiday Message From Jimmy O!

This Christmas season, as you shop in various stores, malls, and even online,

you might see new words and terms that have replaced the word and holiday of Christmas.

Words like "Warm" , "Believe", "Brilliant" , or "Magic"...

You may not even find the word "Christmas" anywhere in a store this year.

Many have decided to celebrate the winter season only, and leave out Christmas all together...

Well, we must remember why we should celebrate Christmas;

God sent his son, Jesus, to be born in a manger.

That child grew to be a man, who, though he was the son of God,

humbled himself, and became a servant, to help us have joy and peace,

and teach us how we should treat each other, and how we should please God...

to love the lord our God with all our hearts, and our neighbor as ourselves.

Jesus laid down his life, to teach us truth, and that we should follow his example.

Through his death, he gave us life, by taking our sin upon himself.

That is God's gift to us, to as many as receive him.

So I hope you will join with me this year, and celebrate the holiday in it's truest meaning...

and even if your not in the market for a vintage tube record player,

I do hope you will come back and visit my listings often,

and enjoy the wonderful sounds of Christmas that I think we have missed for way too long!

A Very Merry Christmas to All!     Jimmy O
