Description
So excited to find this Vogue “The Picture Record” and a signed copy at that, included in a group of old 10inch 78RPM records we were fortunate to find! This R764 and has Shep Fields & His Orchestra doing “Whatta Ya Gonna Do!” and “I Guess I’ll Get The Papers And Go Home”. Vocals are done by Jack Prince.
These picture records were produced for only a year, May ‘46 to Apr ‘47. They are unique because both sides have a picture, an artist’s illustration, embedded in the transparent vinyl of the record. The picture is related in some way with the song. Sav-Way Industries of Detroit made 70 or so different picture records. We have checked a few R764s and found they were not signed like this one. It looks like Shep signed the illustration before both were embedded in vinyl so that preserved that signature.
We see only the most minimal wear on this record and we did the “Play Test” and there were no skips, all played through just fine. Of course you need a player that will handle 78RPMs :-). So we believe it would rate as Good to Very Good. The record was in a different company sleeve whe we collected it and we have left it in that for protection.
