Description
Twinkles was a cereal that was introduced by General Mills in 1960 and discontinued in 1973. The product was made of oat and corn star-shaped pieces. Its mascot was an orange elephant, also named "Twinkles". The cereal was tied in to animated Twinkles adventures which appeared weekly on episodes of both NBC's "King Leonardo and his Short Subjects" and ABC's "Rocky and his Friends." A 1961 magazine ad described the cereal like this: "Bright new idea in cereals... Twinkles the only cereal in a storybook package!"
This auction lot is for what I believe to be a box top premium that was sent for in 1961 or 1962. The lot consists of two 7-inch diameter 45 RPM black vinyl records each containing 3 or 4 stories per side in the original mailing sleeve.
I have tried to grade based on the Goldmine Record Grading System, but I am not knowledgeable about vinyl record grading. With this in mind, records are at least Very Good and sleeve is at least Good Plus. See photos for condition.
