Welcome to My Auction~!
People will accept your ideas much more readily if you tell them Benjamin Franklin said it first. David H. Comins
Well going thru the piles of records I have accumulated in the last 4-5 years. By no means am I a Record Expert, I just buy what I think is interesting or unusual. Check out my listings, never know if there is a treasure......
From what I have researched these records were produced for Movie Theatres to use during the conversion from Silent to Talkies Movies. Many smaller theatres could not afford the expense of replacing equipment and all Theatres faced the shortages of new Talkie Films and equipment, which format/style of new equipment would become the standard and other problems which made the conversion from Silent to Talkies a slow and painful process. These records were made to help ease the transition during the late 20's-early 30's. They featured the same music on both sides so once one side became well used with scratches and skips the other side was readily available. Also these were not sold to the theatre, they were leased and once both sides became worn would be exchanged for new copies. The theatre would also receive "cue cards" with new movie releases as to which records and what times they should be played. Although not generally real exciting titles (a few Jazz titles were produced) they are fairly rare since they were not mass produced, limited production for just a few years for Theatres only and heavily used. This combination results in very few remaining in great condition. All these I am selling are in excellent condition, almost all show no play use, labels are mostly very clean. I photoed the worst looking label on these, label on other side is bright & clean. Surface on the records are clean, bright and shiny with no scratches/scuffs unless specifically noted in the description. I show 1 photo of the actual label of the record you are buying and second photo shows a sample of the surface condition. If you are not satisfied with you purchase for any reason just return it for a full refund.
