VERMILLION RECORDS, 1972, Which was Vernon Wray's own label, Vernon Wray was also known as Ray Vernon, and was the oldest of the Wray brothers.  His singing voice sounds something like a cross between DON IMUS AND HOYT AXTON, and most of songs are of the Ballad type. The cover is still in shrink and near mint, the record was probably never played, before I played it, but has some very minor pressing flaws on the first track which do not affect play  it was tested both sides, no skips, no pops, .............the best track is a massive guitar track which features some of the best electric guitar playing you're going to hear from Link Wray. The track is called TAILPIPE.  Link is also featured boldly on DOBRO in the song WHEN I START DRINKING.  And on the great track GOD IS COLOR BLIND (which is one you'll want to hear more than once) he plays a sweet soulfull lead (guitar) throughout, he (Link) plays  on every track.  The songs are for the most part reflective and of a quality, I like the song lyrics better than the singing, but the singing is good, and the melodies are adequate save two or three which are above average. .   This record had limited release.. The lyrics, rage from tales of Jailhouse's and Alchohol, to Cars, trucks, God, Jesus and the Bible.  Sadly Vernon Wray wouldn't live very long after this, his last release, he was a suicide victim only two years after the release of WASTED, possibly caused by a Cancer diagnosis.
