CONDITION

DISC: This US 1st pressing is visually in EXCELLENT condition. Both sides show full gloss; side 1 has a few hairlines and side 2 has hairlines and some very light surface scratches. The Side 1 MGM label shows a spindle trail.

From Olivier Landemaine's Velvet Underground Web Page (http://olivier.landemaine.free.fr/vu/discog/lps/usa/lpsusa.html):

"The original US pressing offers Lou Reed's 'closet' mix. All pressings have A-side label which lists What Goes On as 3:35 instead of 4:52 as correctly listed on back cover. Some pressings have "All Selections Published By Virpi. Inc.-BMI" printed on label, other ones have "All Selections Published By Virpi. Inc. (ASCAP)."

COVER: The prone-to-wear paste-on cover on thick cardboard is in EXCELLENT+/EXCELLENT condition. The cover's black color shows the slightest rub, but the only thing worth mentioning is some slight surface wear near the middle of the bottom seam on the front side that has the white paper exposed. The cover also has a hint of an LP impression, but overall is a superb example.

INNER SLEEVE: The colorful MGM inner sleeve advertising The Sounds of "Now" is in VERY GOOD+ condition, with 3 seam splits and the original owner's name written in pen, and nicely completes the set of this classic album.

GRADING INFORMATION

• I grade conservatively. MINT is a sealed LP; NEAR MINT is an open LP/cover
with virtually no signs of use/wear; EXCELLENT is a well-looked-after LP/cover
with light signs of use/wear; VERY GOOD+ is an LP/cover with average signs of
  use/wear but is not trashed.
• I use unforgiving sunlight and incandescent light to visually grade each LP.
• I don’t make unverifiable claims as to how many plays a non-sealed LP has had.
