Description
The very FIRST release by Vampire Weekend! My friend Max Lawrence put this out a long time ago (2007) on his label Free News Project. I got this copy from him at their first Philly show at Johnny Brendas opening up for Tokyo Police Club and Ra Ra Riot at a show that we set up (r5productions). Even back then at the very start of their "career" they were super buzzed about and hyped up on the internets. Ryan Gentles (manager of The Strokes) e-mailed me to get on the guest list to try and pick them up as a new client. His train was delayed and he missed them. I bet he was sad. Oops. As you know the band went on to become very famous and popular. I think they were maybe mad at us last time they were in Philly (at the Roots picnic). They ruined The Clipse set (not their fault - but they drowned out the Clipse's smaller pa and lots of people were sad, then the Clipse basically made fun of "college rock" and made remarks about wanting to fight them) I twittered gee "I wonder who would win in a fight" and they wrote back a snarky comment. Sorry guys! But they would win in a fight. Little known fact : Vampire Weekend only enjoys vodka with pineapple which they call "P&P"
Anyways this features the first versions of A-Punk and Cape Cod Kwassa Kwassa. Cover artwork is silk-screened by Rostam Batmanglij. Record is brand new and never played.
