This is an authentic Volkswagen dealer promotional item, not a retail toy or later reissue.

This piece was originally distributed in limited quantities to select VW dealerships and VIP customers around the launch window of the GTI Mk V, making it a true period artifact of mid-2000s VW culture. Unlike mass-produced merchandise, these were never sold to the public, which is why they rarely surface on the secondary market today.
