Description
I got this one out of the Time Capsule in my back yard. Domenico Modugno's classic song VOLARE ( Nel,Blu, Dipinto Di Blu ).Recorded in 1958, this is the original recording on The" Fonit" label. B side is "Nisciuno Po' Sape' ". The vinyl condition is fabulous for it's age, lovely shiny mirror like playing surfaces both sides and labelling is crisp and clean, as new.Pressed 1/09/1958. Record is in overall beautiful order.Words are in Italian. So let me tell you some history behind this record.
In 1958 the record won The San Remo Musical Festival and in the same year represented Italy in The Eurovision Song Competition.Gathering 13 points it finished in 3rd place. In 1959 the first Grammy Awards were conducted and Volare won song of the year and record of the year. Volare is the only Italian song originating in Italy to reach No 1 on the US Billboard Charts, spending 6 weeks in the number one position.It has been covered over 100 times over the years and seems to never get old. Here are the opening lines translated in English." I think that a dream like that will never return.I painted my hands and face blue then was suddenly swept up by the wind and started to fly in the infinite sky". If you go to youtube and search Domenico Modugno you'll see him performing Volare at The Euro Song Competition in 1958. DON'T LET THIS BEAUTIFUL PIECE OF HISTORY ESCAPE, SECURE IT FOR YOURSELF.
