R714 ART KASSEL ORCHESTRA
R760 ENRIC MADRIGUERA ORCHESTRA
U.S. BIDDERS ONLY, PLEASE.
BACKGROUND: For your consideration are these two gorgeous Vogue picture records from 1946/1947. These originally belonged to my grandparents and they were found after they had passed and their estate was being settled. These records were found in an old paper bag in a back closet; my guess is that my grandparents probably bought these new. At any rate, they had been stored for a long time. These discs have beautiful illustrations and will make great vintage display items in addition to the fantastic music that they contain!
DESCRIPTION: These records are 10 inches in diameter, have one song per side, and play at 78 rpm. Each side features a colorful illustration that is under clear vinyl with grooves/music impressed in it.
The Kassel disc is Vogue R714 with "Doodle Doo Doo" (mx.P21-2BA) on one side; it features a print of a 40's lady on a blanket listening to a record (probably Vogue). The other side is "All I do is Wantcha" (mx.P22-2CA) and features a gentleman with college professor in hand chasing a woman who is walking away .
The Madriguera disc is Vogue R760 with "The Minute Samba" (mx.P101-2) on one side; it features a man and women, in exotic Latin costumes, dancing with a stopwatch face in the background. The other side is "So It Goes" (mx. 100-2B) and has a print image of a sad lady watching out a window as a man leaves.
CONDITION: These items are being graded visually; I have not played them. Both discs are in "VG to VG-" condition with some wear and other visible condition issues that are described below. Both discs still have crisp and colorful graphics and lots of visual appeal. Neither disc is cracked all the way through or chipped.
The Kassel disc has light surface scratches and scuffs on both sides. There are some dark marks on the "Doodle" side, look to be under the wax. Also on the "Doodle" side are a small dig at the noon position and a visible 2 inch scratch at the 7 o'clock position. The images on this disc seem just a bit cloudy/milky.
The Madriguera disc shows lots of surface wear and scuffs. There is a large brown patch on the "Samba" side (see pics) that measures 4-3/4 inches by 3 inches; I am not sure what it is but it appears to be under the wax. There is some brown staining from this on the other side on the outside rim, on very edge of print. This item also has numerouse small lamination cracks all over both sides; these are longer on the "Samba" side.
Condition issues aside, these are still fascinating items, with great vintage illustrations, and they would make a great addition to your wall or record collection. At the very least, they would make good collection fillers until better copies come along!
