You are bidding for a CLASSIC UK 50'S ROCK N' ROLL / SKIFFLE 45RPM EP by THE VIPERS SKIFFLE GROUP called SKIFFLE MUSIC, Side 1; CUMBERLAND GAP, HEY LILLY LILEY LO. Side 2; DON'T YOU ROCK ME DADDY-O, IT TAKES A WORRIED MAN TO SING A WORRIED SONG, issued on the PARLOPHONE record label in the UK in 1957, cat number GEP 8615(GREEN AND SILVER LABEL)The record is in excellent condition with excellent labels .The record has little wear with few slight surface scuffs and few slight surface scratches and plays with no jumps and clicks and a minimum of surface noise.. The original card picture sleeve(laminated front and back) is also exceelnt with only slight corner fraying. CLASSIC UK SKIFFLE EP from THE VIPERS SKIFFLE GROUP. The VIPERS who were one of the many groups to follow in the wake of LONNIE DONEGAN who had a huge world wide hit with ROCK ISLAND LINE and started the SKIFFLE craze in the UK which introduced FOLK and BLUES to UK teenagers, DONEGAN was a huge influence kickstarting the UK ROCK, BLUES and FOLK industry,. and responsible for thousands of British teenagers buying a guitar learning a few chords and forming groups. The BEATLES STONES, DIRE STRAITS, QUEEN, VAN MORRISON, BILLY FURY, CLIFF RICHARD, all started by taking their first fumbling steps in SKIFFLE groups, before turning to rock and roll, or the blues, or folk. SKIFFLE only lasted about a year but was a remaining influence, and the VIPERS were one of the most successful, the resident band of the famed TWO I'S COFFEE BAR in London's Soho, they had a number of hit records before the SKIFFLE craze faltered. tHIS skiffle music ep features a number of their hits including DON'T YOU ROCK ME DADDY-O, AND CUMBERLAND GAP which were their originals covered by DONEGAN who had bigger hits with the soongs , both songs became SKIFFLE STANDARDS. . A little piece of recording history... RARE in decent condition, from my own collection.
