Description
Up for auction is a nice, clean early pressing of the self-titled debut album Violent Femmes, originally released on Slash Records (1-23845) in 1983:
-Guaranteed early Slash pressing, NOT recent reissue -Gray Slash labels w/ red lettering -Original inner sleeve (has small clear tape on seam) -Vinyl comes in poly audiophile inner sleeve
Note: In my humble opinion, this may be the greatest post-punk album ever recorded -- yes, better than the Replacements -- absolutely original and without peer. Jane's Addiction owes everything to this band. Their trenchant, dark lyrics and stripped-down instrumentation were completely original--they do not sound like any other band from that era, and the high demand for their records 40 years later is completely justified.
Condition: Cover is very nice, no significant signs of wear or age. No ring wear, no seam splits. Corners are sharp. Back is clean, some light rub top middle. A nicely preserved original. Grade: Excellent Plus (EX+)
Vinyl also looks great, still retains its original glossy shine. No obvious scratches or scuffs, but perhaps a couple tiny faint superficial handling marks from taking the vinyl out of the paper inner sleeve a few times. Labels are clean, no wear around spindle holes. Looks like this records has maybe been played only a couple times but handled with care. Grade: Excellent (EX)
